Reunited Friday

Well thank heavens, it’s finally here. Thank goodness for Fridays! Got any swell plans for the weekend or any wicked pranks set for tomorrow?

The forecast is for rain and snow today and tomorrow. We’ll see if that fickle Mother Nature delivers or if she continues to tease us. Here’s hoping your weekend is grand.

Into each life some rain must fall

The title of this post was written by that popular nineteenth century American poet, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow in his classic poem “The Rainy Day.” It’s meaning is ‘this too we shall survive.’

It was that meaning made me reflect on some uncharacteristic weather that we’ve experienced for the past several days. Lots of grey overcast conditions, nothing like the 300+ days of sunshine those of us who are lucky enough to live in Colorado generally experience. The weather in fact was not only grey and dreary, the humidity was significant enough it left us a rather large present along our typical cityscape ambling yesterday morning. While little mushrooms aren’t uncommon after rainy weather, this one took me by surprise.

‘Shroom anyone?

The little Miss Ninja wasn’t that keen on trying to avoid photo bombing her brother so much either. But her reliable stay…well…let’s just say it ain’t all that reliable and no need to take unnecessary chances, right? It was a feat keeping Sam sitting next to this huge mushroom that sprouted up overnight, keeping Elsa out of the frame and me able to hang on to her with a bag of poop to dispose of, all the while not dropping the phone or dropping the leash. But us moms are jugglers if anything. Over the years, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that large of a mushroom after a day of rain in Denver and had to capture it. I know it looks like a gnarly tree stump but trust me…that was one. mega. fungus!

Cheers for a great Friday and an even better weekend. Yikes, just realized April starts this weekend. Got any April Fool’s Day pranks prepared that you’re willing to share?

Purple Day for Epilepsy

Today is Purple Day® for Epilepsy and World Epilepsy Day™ and in honor of all epi-warriors, either 2 or 4-legged, I proudly support this event by showing our colors and wearing purple. As Elsa is a puppy mill survivor with unknown lineage who seemed to contract epilepsy shortly after she was rescued 6 months ago , supporting epilepsy awareness and education seemed like a no-brainer. I am committed to learn as much as possible about this terrible condition and how to effectively treat it while providing a safe and loving home for this sweet little Ninja. And Sam is doing his part by being a supportive and loving big brother.

So today, I say wear your purple proudly and support those organizations like The Epilepsy Foundation whose mission is to provide information, education and support for those impacted by this disease.

Word(y) Wednesday

While catching up on my blog reading in the studio, my two little yin and yang shadows mirrored one another in the ‘tuck’ position during siesta time.  Oh, to be that flexible!

Happy mid-week. With DST, I still feel like I’m losing time and wonder when make that, if my bio-rhythms will ever catch up?  How about you…have you adjusted yet to the new time? On the bright side, at least we’re moving toward the weekend more quickly.

Monday Musings

While some of you may be knee-deep in the white stuff, there are others who are already baking in 80+F (27C) degrees of sunshine. Isn’t it intriguing to see how seemingly conflicting or opposite forces may be parallel or coupled, and yet interrelated in the natural world as well as they are around our Ranch. This yin and yang duality of current weather conditions seems a little like these two knuckleheads, “Pete and Repeat” ~ otherwise known as the Sam and Elsa show.

Here’s hoping your Monday is just the beginning of a ‘wagnificent’ week!
